Ninah Nnamirembe is a GenPath Africa Fellow and an MSc candidate in Bioinformatics of Infectious Diseases and Pathogen Genomics at the Centre for Epidemic Response and Innovation (CERI), Stellenbosch University.
She has a background in Medical Laboratory Science, with experience in laboratory-based techniques and infectious disease research. Supervised by Dr. Houriiyah Tegally, Dr. Eduan Wilkinson and Dr. Jenicca Poongavanan, her current research focuses on the genomic epidemiology of yellow fever in Africa. She aims to elucidate viral transmission dynamics and characterize the ecological drivers that shape its spatial spread.
Her research interests lie at the intersection of pathogen genomics, infectious disease surveillance and public health bioinformatics, with a particular interest in using genomic data to better understand the emergence and spread of infectious diseases.
