Fekraddis Molla Yalew is an African STARS Fellow currently enrolled in an MSc in Bioinformatics of Infectious Diseases at CERI, Stellenbosch University, with a background in Biotechnology. Growing up in Ethiopia, she witnessed the impact of infectious diseases, inspiring her commitment to developing scientific solutions. Her research on multidrug-resistant bacteria showed the limitations of conventional laboratory methods, motivating her to integrate bioinformatics. She aims to advance genomics-driven infectious disease research using bioinformatics to strengthen public health and contribute to Africa’s response to infectious diseases.
