Isaac Emmanuel Omara is a PhD researcher in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology at the Centre for Epidemic Response and Innovation, Stellenbosch University. His research involves Genomic Evolution and Virulence of Rift Valley fever virus in Africa. He integrates large-scale viral genomics, selection pressure analysis and protein structure prediction to inform surveillance and the design of a vaccine against RVFV, which a neglected but significant viral pathogen that is endemic in most parts of Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. Isaac is a GenPathAfrica Fellow contributing research efforts in pathogen genomics and translational science.
