Marije Hofstra, M.D./Ph.D., is a clinical microbiologist with a passion for global health. She has received her medical and specialization training in the Netherlands. She has led studies on HIV drug resistance in different settings in Europe, the Caribbean and South Africa. Her research at CERI is primarily centred on translating innovation in laboratory diagnostics and bioinformatics in ways that directly benefit individual patients and public health. She is working on metagenomic next-generation sequencing for diagnosis of infections, genomic surveillance, pathogen discovery and host response investigations. She is also interested in leveraging machine learning based approaches to aid in fast interpretation and translation into actionable results. |
